Be chosen / PRACTICAL MARKETING NOTES
Your first paid campaign: what to test before you scale
Use your first campaign to learn what resonates before committing more budget.
Advertising brings more people to your message. If the message or destination is unclear, extra spend can amplify the problem. Start with a manageable learning plan.
Test a clear hypothesis
Compare a small set of opening messages: one focused on the customer’s outcome, another on the problem, and another on the audience. Keep other variables as consistent as practical.
Keep the audience focused
Choose a relevant audience and budget that can support the test. Too many tiny segments can make the results harder to interpret.
Make the landing page follow through
The destination should continue the ad’s promise and give visitors a clear next step. A demo campaign, for example, needs a straightforward path to requesting a demo.
Check measurement before launch
Confirm that the actions you care about are tracked correctly. Then assess the relevance and quality of the response, rather than clicks alone.
Scale what you have evidence for
Increase spend thoughtfully when the results support the decision. Keep reviewing lead quality and testing new creative; an early winner is not a permanent guarantee.
